Radiotherapy simply aims to eliminate the cell’s DNA by cutting it so that the tumor cannot grow, and the cancer cells die immediately or after a certain period when the cell attempts to divide. Radiotherapy affects the cancer cell and the healthy cells around it, but the healthy cells have the ability to repair the defect because they have a system for growth and repairing any damage, unlike the cancer cell. This explains the gradual improvement of symptoms during the recovery period after radiotherapy.
